Today Summer invited contemporary romance author Sharon
C. Cooper to talk with us about her debut novel: Something New. Described as an edgy and sweet romance story, Something New tells the tale of two old
friends who reunite by chance after the end of two bitter romances.
Something
New
Entrepreneur, Simone Edwards, did what any intelligent
woman with a ticking biological clock would do: she asked her longtime
boyfriend to marry her. Devastated when he turns her down, and fed up with
dead-end relationships, Simone swears off men … and takes a vow of celibacy.
How hard could it be? She soon learns it’s harder than she thinks when the most
irresistible man in the world, Tim Hollister, shows up at her job. She hasn’t
seen him in over ten years, and quickly realizes he is a temptation she doesn’t
want to resist. But isn’t there some rule about dating your friend? Simone must
decide if a romance with Tim is worth risking their friendship, and her
reclaimed virginity.
Betrayed by his supermodel ex-girlfriend, who happens to be the mother of his child, Tim Hollister has placed a padlock on his heart. But when Simone, an old high school friend falls back into his life, he soon forgets his promise to stay clear of beautiful women. Simone was always like a sister to him, but he discovers that his feelings for her aren’t very brotherly. He’s captivated by the woman she’s become and wants to take their friendship to the next level - despite her resistance. Tim can’t avoid their new-found passion, and sets out to prove he’s the man for her.

Summer of Indie held a short interview with author Sharon Cooper to find out more about her experiences as a new author:
Q: Why did you Go Indie?
Q: Why did you Go Indie?
A: I decided to go indie after several of my critique partners (and friends) started publishing their own books and were successful at it. One day, after receiving yet another rejection – I decided to create my own 3-book deal! This was a few months ago and I currently have two books published (one full length novel and one short story). It’s not going to stop there because my next book, Blue Roses, will be out this summer and another book, Rendezvous with Danger, scheduled for release in the fall of 2012!
Q: What's the best advice you have for aspiring
writers, particularly those who are thinking about Going Indie?
A: Write daily – even if you don’t feel like it. Just get your story on paper. Then once it’s on paper, I’d recommend that they get their book professionally edited before deciding to publish it.
Q: What has been your biggest mistake as an author?
A: I think my biggest mistake as an author was not becoming an indie author sooner! The time I spent creating a synopsis and sending out query letters could’ve been learning more about self-publishing and getting my stories out there.
Q: What are some other books that you have published?
A:
Something New (A Sweet Romance - April 2012)
Best Woman for the Job (Short Story - Contemporary Romance - April 2012)
Blue Roses (Romantic Suspense - July 2012)
Rendezvous with Danger (Romantic Suspense – Fall 2012)
